About
A small firm, working nationwide
How the practice works
Soham Accounting is a small tax and accounting firm. We prepare federal and state returns, keep books, run payroll, handle sales tax, and set up entities for individuals, families, and small businesses — remotely for clients across the country, and in person for those near Spring Hill, FL.
Small is the point rather than a limitation. You are not routed to whoever happens to be free this week, and you are not starting over every February explaining what happened last year, why a position was taken, and what is expected to change. We keep your file between seasons, and whoever picks up the phone has already read it. That continuity is most of what makes a return quick to prepare and easy to defend.
Most problems that reach us are not arithmetic errors. They are questions nobody asked: whether a side business had outgrown a sole proprietorship, whether a rental was on the right schedule, whether the books that a return was built from were trustworthy in the first place. Software fills in what you type. It does not ask whether you should have typed something different.
The work is year-round. A question in September gets the same attention as a question in March, and it is usually far cheaper to answer at that point.
Where our clients are
Florida, Massachusetts, Washington, Texas, and Arizona.
That is where our clients live, which is a different question from which states we prepare state returns for. Tell us yours and we will confirm it before you engage rather than after.
How remote work runs
Documents by secure upload, never email. The return reviewed with you on a video call in your timezone. Electronic signature, then e-filed.
A federal return is a federal return in every state, which is why none of this depends on how far away you are.
How we work
What you can expect
- A fixed quote, in writing
- Agreed before any work starts. No hourly billing and no invoice that arrives larger than the number you agreed to.
- Questions asked before figures are entered
- Filing status, entity treatment, and what has to be reported are decided first. Most of the value in a return is settled before anything is typed into a form.
- Plain answers about what we do not do
- We do tax and accounting work. We do not draft legal documents, audit financial statements, or sell investments. Where a question belongs with an attorney or a financial adviser, we say so and refer rather than guess.
- No promises about outcomes
- Nobody can promise a refund or a number, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can do is make sure the return is right and that every position on it can be supported.
