This policy explains what Soham Accounting collects through this website, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than to be comprehensive-sounding.
The short version
- This site has no contact form and no login. Nothing you send is stored in a database on this site.
- We use privacy-respecting analytics to see which pages are read. No advertising trackers, no data brokers, no selling of anything.
- Client tax documents never travel through this website and are never stored on it.
What happens when you contact us
This site collects nothing from you directly. There is no contact form — you reach us by telephone or by email, and whatever you choose to tell us that way is what we hold. An email lives in our inbox, which is where we keep the record of the enquiry; your email provider and ours transmit it, as they would any other message.
We use it only to reply to you and, if you become a client, to carry out the work you engage us for. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing.
Please do not send tax documents by email. Email is not an encrypted channel. Once we have spoken we will send you a secure portal link.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and how they reached them. It records the page visited, an approximate location derived from IP address, and general device information.
Analytics events never carry personal information. We record that a telephone number or email address was tapped, never who tapped it. That constraint is enforced in code, not by policy: the analytics wrapper accepts only a fixed set of non-identifying parameters.
You can opt out at any time using the notice on the site, or by blocking analytics in your browser. Nothing on the site stops working if you do.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish sessions. Your analytics preference is stored in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie.
Client documents
Tax documents are handled entirely outside this website, through a practice-management platform built for the purpose, with encryption in transit and at rest, access logging, and a defined retention period.
This is a deliberate architectural decision. Storing W-2s, passports, and foreign account statements is the highest-consequence data handling a small practice can undertake, and a marketing website is the wrong place for it.
The specific platform is being selected. This policy will name it, and state its retention period, before any client documents are handled through it.
How long we keep things
- Enquiries that do not become engagements: kept in our inbox while they may still be relevant, then deleted.
- Client records: kept for the period tax record-keeping requires, then deleted. Indefinite retention is unnecessary risk, not a service.
- Analytics: retained by Google under the retention setting on our property.
Who else processes your information
- Vercel — hosts this website and processes standard server request logs.
- Google Analytics — website usage measurement, only with your consent.
None of these are advertising networks and none receive information about you for marketing purposes.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you can decline analytics without losing access to anything. Some records we are required to keep for a period under tax rules; where that applies we will say so plainly rather than refuse without explanation.

Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. Substantive changes will be summarised rather than buried.
